At TDM, environmental stewardship is a cornerstone of our commitment to the community and to enhancing the relationship with and blending into the Mexicali landscape.
The plant was designed as one of the cleanest electrical generating plants in North America, featuring state-of-the-art air-emissions-reduction technology.
In addition, the plant treats raw wastewater from Mexicali and uses it in the cooling process. As an added benefit, this site helps free up capacity at the nearby Mexicali-sewage treatment plant. Since, at this time, Mexicali doesn't have the capacity to process all of its sewage, raw sewage sometimes flows into the New River and north across the border into the United States. The TDM treatment helps prevent that.
