Health and safety
We believe in supporting programs and projects
that improve public safety and that help people in time of
need. We prefer to fund programs that are preventative, reach children at
early ages and help meet the needs of people facing adversity.
Some of our community partnerships in health and safety include:
ARIZONA:
- Keeping Kids Safe...at home and at school: In partnership
with the Buckeye Valley Fire District and the Buckeye Fire Department,
Sempra Energy’s contributions helped to underwrite school safety programs
that addressed topics including emergency home- and school-evacuation
plans, “Say No To Strangers,” “Stop, Drop and Roll”
and electrical safety. Also, the elementary schools
that took part provided all students with Kid ID kits.
CALIFORNIA:
- Senior Brown-Bag Program: A collaboration of the Golden
Empire Gleaners and the Taft Chamber of Commerce, Sempra Energy is the
corporate partner of a “Senior Brown-Bag” program, which
provides free lunches to local seniors the first Tuesday of each month.
- First Night Escondido: A yearly event sponsored by
Sempra Energy, this community celebration provides a safe place for
kids and their families to ring in the new year.
LOUISIANA:
- Food Bank For Friends: Working in a number of local parishes
in the community of LaPlace, Sempra Energy provides financial support
of a year-round food bank program for low-income families.
