In operation
- El Dorado Energy. El Dorado Energy is a 480 megawatt (MW) power plant
40 miles southeast of Las Vegas, near Boulder City, Nev., that began
operations in May 2000. Electricity from the power plant is being sold
into the wholesale power markets in the Southwestern United States.
- Elk Hills Power. In 2003, Sempra Generation and Occidental Energy
Corp. began commercial operation of Elk Hills Power, a 550 MW generating
station about 25 miles west of Bakersfield, Calif.
- Mesquite Power. In 2003, Sempra Generation started commercial operation
of the 1,250 MW Mesquite Power Generating Station, which is about 40
miles west of Phoenix, Ariz.
- Termoeléctrica de Mexicali. Also in 2003, Sempra Generation
began commercial operations at its first international power-generation
plant, a 625 MW plant near Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico.
Electricity from the project is available for the U.S. market.
