Mesquite Power
Community
We at Mesquite Power want to help enhance the quality of life for our neighbors in Maricopa County. That's why we have invested our resources in the local community to address real needs and get real results:
- Mesquite Power Math & Science Alliance
In partnership with five local schools, the plant established the Math & Science Alliance to help support the efforts of math and science teachers and to energize classroom activities. Teachers can use these funds to enhance current curriculum, support field trips and guest speakers, or purchase new materials and equipment for the classroom.
- Tres Rios Festival
Mesquite Power is a proud sponsor of the annual Tres Rios Festival. This family-friendly event is free and focuses on the rich diversity of wildlife, habitat, history and culture of three local rivers.
- School community clean-up
Recently students from Arlington School cleaned up their community with support from Mesquite Power. The students cleaned up a five-mile stretch of road near the plant to fundraise for their 8th-grade trip. Mesquite Power was proud to help these students raise money and help make their community a better place to live.
- Community and business development
Mesquite Power supports a variety of community celebrations and civic organizations throughout the year that help contribute to the economic success of Maricopa County. We are proud to lend our support either as a sponsor or as a member of some of the following events and organizations:
- Buckeye Christian Food Ministry Food Bank Program
- Buckeye Valley Chamber of Commerce
- Habitat For Humanity
- Tonopah Valley Association
- Tonopah Valley Community Council
- Valley Forward Association
- Wildlife For Tomorrow Foundation
- Mesquite Power Community Advisory Committee
The Mesquite Power Community Advisory Committee (CAC) is a diverse group of residents from Arlington, Tonopah, Palo Verde and Buckeye. CAC members recommend areas in the community where Mesquite Power can lend its support, including charitable contributions and corporate social responsibility.
Past donations include providing school supplies for children at elementary schools in Arlington, Palo Verde and Buckeye; supporting a local public swimming pool; giving needed funds to civic organizations; and helping provide training to volunteer fire districts.
- Holiday donations
During the holiday season, Mesquite Power provides for those in need in the community. Each Thanksgiving, Mesquite Power supports local food banks in their holiday giving campaigns.
Each December, employees donate to a toy drive, distributing new toys to less fortunate families in the area. Additionally, employees participate in the Christmas Angel program, providing clothing, snacks and shoes to children in need. All of these contributions are sponsored by and encouraged by Mesquite Power, making us a true partner to the community.
As a subsidiary of Sempra Generation, our parent company, Sempra Energy, administers our Community Partnership Program. If you have a program you would like considered for support, please review our guidelines and then apply for funding.
