
One of the nation's cleanest and most efficient natural gas-fueled power plants
is in operation about 40 miles west of Phoenix, Ariz., just south of the Palo Verde
Nuclear Generating Station. The 1,250 megawatt (MW), $500 million Mesquite Power
Generating Station is about 45 percent more efficient than a standard natural gas-fueled power plant and features the latest in air-emissions-control
technology.
