Jeff Martin
President and chief executive officer

Jeff Martin is the president and chief executive officer of Sempra Generation, which operates and develops natural gas-fired power plants and renewable energy generation facilities for the competitive market in North America.

Prior to Sempra Generation, Martin served as vice president of investor relations at Sempra Energy where he oversaw shareholder relations and communications with the financial community for Sempra Energy.

Martin joined Sempra in 2004 as a principal in the equity investment arm of the company, where he worked with financial partners to acquire domestic gas and power assets.

Martin’s professional career spans nearly 20 years of regulated and unregulated energy experience, with an emphasis in law, finance and mergers and acquisitions. Earlier in his career, Martin worked as an attorney at the law firm of Snell & Wilmer, LLP and subsequently as corporate counsel to UniSource Energy Corporation, parent to Tucson Electric Power Company.

Martin also served as senior vice president and chief financial officer of NewEnergy, Inc., where he led the company’s merger with The AES Corporation in 1999. Prior to joining Sempra, Martin was president and director of TruePricing, Inc.

Martin received a bachelor of science from the United States Military Academy at West Point. After receiving his Commission from the academy, Martin served as an officer and pilot in the U.S. Army for six years. He also holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Texas in El Paso and a law degree from the University of Miami.
