Fowler Ridge


Termoelectrica de Mexicali

Fowler Ridge II Wind Farm is Sempra Generation’s first operational wind power facility and is a 50-50 joint venture with BP Wind Energy.  Located on 17,000 acres in Benton County, Ind., the 200-megawatt (MW) project was completed in December 2009 and produces enough electricity for approximately 60,000 homes.  The project’s entire power output has been sold under long-term contracts to American Electric Power and Vectren Energy Delivery.

Joint venture between BP Wind Energy and Sempra Generation

PLANT TYPE:

Utilizes 133 General Electric wind turbines, each capable of generating 1.5 MW

TOTAL GENERATING CAPACITY:

200 MW, or enough clean energy to power about 60,000 homes

OPERATIONAL  START DATE:

December 2009

TARGETED CUSTOMER BASE:

Entire power output has been sold under four, long-term 50-MW contracts.  Three contracts were signed with units of American Electric Power and, one, with Vectren Energy Delivery for terms of 20 years each.  The project’s power supplies homes and businesses in the Midwest.

Situated in gently rolling farmland that is ideal for wind generation

This clean, renewable energy project does not produce greenhouse gas emissions nor require water to generate power
