Elk Hills is one of the cleanest power plants in California and uses state-of-the-art emissions control technology. This plant produces 45 percent more electricity for the same fuel input than older plants in California.

Our concern for the environment also shows in our efforts to preserve the landscape. Elk Hills Power gave funds to the Centers for Natural Land Management to buy and preserve more than 136 acres of pristine native habitat in Kern County’s Lokern Nature Preserve.
